Allergies and hay fever

Video: Olympic athlete's unusual hay fever treatment

Gadget for hay fever sufferers suitable for use by Olympic athletes

I am very proud that my own son Andrew will be running in the 400m relay for the British team at the Bejing Olympics this summer.

Andrew suffers from hay fever, and with the expected pollution in Bejing during the Olympics he needs a suitable treatment. However the traditional anti-histimines are no good for him, as they contain banned substances that he is unable to use.

So he is using a new treatment available from Lloyd's Pharmacy - it uses red light transmitted into the nostril. This helps to prevent the production of histamines in the body, which are the result of a reaction to allergens.
