UK Sun Awareness Week 7th May 2007
It's UK Sun Awareness Week on 7th-13th May. As someone who suffered from skin cancer - twice! - I have first hand knowledge of what it's like to be a patient as well as a doctor. I actually had the surgery shown live on ITV's This Morning - you can see pictures here:Dr Chris Steele's skin cancer surgery
So I really feel passionate about this subject.
If we get good weather over the Easter holidays, or you are going somewhere sunny, then follow these guidlines to protect yourself and your family.
Spend time in the shade between 11am and 3pm
Make sure you never burn
Aim to cover up with T shirt, hat and sunglasses
Remember to take extra care with children
Then use factor 15+ sunscreen (sun cream)
For information about skin cancer, please see Skin Cancer Basic Facts from Dr Chris Steele
