Look for colour changes
We should all be aware of any colour changes which may occur in a mole. If a mole is uneven in colour, becomes darker or made up of different shades of brown and black it should be regarded as suspicious and be checked by a doctor.
Prevention
The best way to reduce your risk of melanoma is to limit your skin's exposure to the sun.
- Try to keep out of the sun between 11am and 3pm, when it is most intense
- Use a broad spectrum sunscreen, with a SPF of 15+
- Wear a broad brimmed hat and subglasses
- Make sure you never get sunburn
- Avoid sunbeds
