Men better in bed when under the influence

According to latest research, men perform better in bed under the influence of alcohol!

These results may raise many an eyebrow amonst the fairer sex, but results published in the Journal of Sexual Medicine suggest that so called ‘brewer’s droop’ is little more than a myth.

Scientists in Western Australia surveyed 1,580 men about their health and drinking habits. They discovered that men who drank moderate amounts of alcohol had 30% less problems between the sheets than men who never drank at all.

The study also found that even binge and weekend drinkers had fewer performance related problems than men who drank only once a week.

But doctors throughout the UK trying to get us to cut down on our units can breathe easy. Men who performed least well were former heavy drinkers and those who smoked. A lesson for us all then.

The authors said: "Although alcohol may increase sexual desire through disinhibition, the slang term ‘brewer’s droop’ captures its reputation as a risk factor for decreased sexual performance."

Women throughout the UK may remain unconvinced by the authors' conclusion: "These findings suggest a favourable association between low-risk drinking and positive erectile function."

Who are we to argue with science?
