A SMART new approach to asthma management
For the first time, adult asthma sufferers aged 18 years and older will be able to control and relieve their symptoms using a single inhaler known as Symbicort SMART. Studies show that patients using Symbicort SMART experienced fewer asthma attacks, took no extra inhaled steroids and needed less oral steroids compared to those taking other asthma treatments.Dr Chris says: "This is good news for asthma sufferers as many can be unsure of when to use their different inhalers. As well as being a convenient, single inhaler, Symbicort SMART will enable patients to receive the appropriate level of treatment that they need and help to control steroid intake."
"There's also good news on the pocket too - with 50% of people with asthma experiencing difficulties paying for their asthma medicines, using one inhaler to both control and relieve asthma symptoms means that patients now only have a single prescription charge to pay."
Symbicort SMART is licensed for use in adults aged 18 years and older, who are suitable for combination therapy, especially those with inadequate asthma control and in frequent need of reliever (blue inhaler) medication, as well as in patients who have had asthma attacks requiring medical interventions.
