Q and A herbal tea - may help prevent breast cancer, study shows.

Q and A herbal tea

Q. I'm a keen advocate of herbal tea, is there any evidence to show that it does any good? I just want to convince my friends!

A. Well you're in luck, because the latest research has shown some impressive results. Scientists monitored 4,400 women for 6 years and scrutinised their diets very carefully. What they found was that those drinking herbal teas (no particular type or brand) had a 59% lower risk of getting breast cancer, compared to non-herbal tea drinkers! This is a remarkable finding, but because many herbal teas are rich in anti-oxdiants, it is not so surprising. All women at the start of the research were free of breast cancer.

Maybe women who drink herbal teas lead a more healthier life style anyhow - more regular exercise, eating less animal fat and more fruit and veg, could have influenced these results, because we do know that consuming a high level of animal fat does increase the risk of brerat cancer.

So the answer, apart from drinking herbal teas is: exercise more, eat less fat and eat more fruit and veg!!
