How to deal with libido loss
Change your lifestyle
Men are notoriously reticent about seeing their GP.
So let’s be clear about this - GPs have seen everything. And a loss of libido or erectile dysfunction may be an indication that you have an underlying health condition. Always get it checked out by your GP.
In the absence of a medical condition, you should try to make some changes to your lifestyle, including:
- Establishing a better work/life balance. Working late, followed by drinking to de-stress will not help you regain your libido!
- Make the time to exercise more. This may not be easy if you are feeling tired and lethargic. But exercising helps reduce stress, and has the added benefit of helping you lose weight
- Try to improve your diet. Eat meals at regular intervals and cut down on takeaways, processed foods and saturated fats
- Prioritise friends and family, rather than work
- Try to get more sleep. That's where cutting down on the booze helps. Alcohol is a major sleep disruptor. Go to bed at a similar time each night and establish a regular sleep pattern
- Talk to your partner about what's happening. Not a typically British male thing to do - but it usually works wonders!
