Danielle Lloyd has given birth to a baby boy, weighing 4lb 4oz, nearly ten weeks before he was expected.

Her fiancé, footballer Jamie O'Hara, posted on his Twitter feed this morning: "Danielle has delivered our baby this morning 4lb 4oz, 10 weeks early."

Despite the premature birth, Mr O'Hara said both mother and baby were well: "Baby and dan are ok just letting the hospital look after him."

The little boy was not expected to arrive until September. The 27-year-old model and former Celebrity Big Brother star admitted she was feeling 'emotional' after the birth.

She tweeted: "Thanks 4 all ur kind messages... Feeling very emotional please pray 4 our little boy hope he can be home with us soon X."

The is the second baby boy for the couple. Their first, Archie, is now one year old.

Around one in 13 babies in England and Wales are born prematurely, before the 37th week of pregnancy.

Babies born between 29 and 34 weeks are described as "very preterm," and are usually looked after in special care baby units.

Around 30 per cent of premature births occur in women carrying twins or triplets.

Premature rupture of the membranes, haemorrhages, infections and uterine abnormalities can all cause women to deliver early.

However, around 30 per cent of premature births are spontaneous, with the cause unknown.
